MASSIVE Minion Aggro Change

Does this new minon aggro change bode well for the community? Will it help new players?

MASSIVE Minion Aggro Change

TLDR: Minions will no longer aggro to you when you attack them. The only way to get minions to attack your champion will be to attack an enemy champion.

My thoughts are pretty muddied on this. It's a niche micromechanic, not many people use this consistently (even at high ranks). If you don't believe me, go watch VODs from the top 3 ranked mid/top laners (where this mechanic is most important to neutralize waves). Now on the other hand, someone like Faker is using this consistently - you can also verify this by watching his VODs.

This is a mechanic that if you don't know, you don't know - in the sense that most people learn it from a YouTube video/experienced friend. It really isn't something the average player just 'figures out' by playing.

That being said - the next logical response from someone who is 'pro' this mechanic would be...

"Well it helps make laning more of a psychological battle, ergo more complex and engaging."

To which I would say...

If most people AREN'T using this - and only a select few people are (who didn't learn it by playing anyway) is it really USEFUL for it to remain in the game? Aren't there better ways for players to show they are more skilled than their opponent that aren't niche micromechanics?

On the other hand, I enjoy niche micromechanics. I think finding out quirks like these is really interesting and fun - and using them successfully in a game is rewarding. But for new players, losing lane when they have no idea why the minions acted in a particular way doesn't help them improve. If they have to take their VOD to their challenger friend or pay for coaching to have a mechanic like this explained, I'm not sure it belongs in the game.
